Fashion inspiration: Gigi
Feeling overcome with the common summer break boredom, I decided to go to the library and check out some free movies. I love classic movies and have seen nowhere near enough so I thought I’d check it out. I came back with three, all pretty good, and of course two just happened to take place in Paris. Oh Paris, how I long for you…….but the only real classic I grabbed was an oscar winner from 1958, GiGi. Leslie Caron stars as this young girl growing up in France named GiGi of course. I won’t go into detail about the plot although it was a good movie and I sugges tyou see it for yourself. But the main point, what I couldn’t stop thinking about, was how much I loved the clothes she wore (atleast before she gets all glamourous and things get a little tooo……how do i say….. explosions of tacky which is why the more youthful outfits stand out so gloriously). Unfortunately, google has failed in finding just what i wanted to show. namely this wide hat with a blue ribbon she wears in the beginning that I simply must find a hat resembling. it’s just so…youthful, refreshing, and of course….French.
And this was my favorite look of the whole movie. complete with the hat of course. Yes I know I am not a little French girl….. only in my dreams. But if I am lucky enough to find clothes that make me feel as such why the hell wouldn’t I wear them? I am officially on the hunt. Either way….Adorably French dressed Gigi? bliss.
